Impressive shutter sequence
Here’s an impressive sequence showing the operation of a Nikon D3 camera, shot by Marianne Oelund. It’s been assembled into a handy interactive movie by Jeffrey Friedl which you can scrub back and forth to break down the complex operation.

Aside from the operation of the aperture lever, which doesn’t exist on EOS cameras (all EOS cameras use electronic aperture control) the sequence is basically the same as on Canon models. It gives you an appreciation for the incredible precision and complexity that makes up what, on the surface, seems like a very simple and straightforward thing - taking a picture with an SLR.
