Artificial light.
Photographically speaking, any light source which is not the sun or something illuminated by sunlight.
This includes electric lighting, flash bulbs, electronic flash units and so on. Strictly speaking candles and fires may not be truly artificial light, but since they are usually controllable by the photographer theyre artificial in this sense.
