CF, C.Fn.

1. CF and C.Fn often stand for “custom function.” A user-settable parameter which affects the operation of an automated camera. (Canon used CF on earlier EOS cameras but have recently switched to C.Fn instead, possibly to avoid confusion with CF memory cards)

2. CF also stands for CompactFlash, a type of flash memory used in digital cameras.

cf. flash memory.

3. CF lenses are a type of Hasselblad lens. They have optics by Carl Zeiss and contain leaf shutters.

cf. Hasselblad, leaf shutter, Zeiss.

Entry last updated 2002-05-08. Term 198 of 1487.
