Cloudy glass.
Also hazy glass. Lens glass which has become less transparent over time.
Glass which has become somewhat translucent may have changed for a number of reasons. A fungus infection is one possibility. Adverse reaction with atmospheric pollutants, particularly tobacco smoke, is another. Breakdown of optical cements used in older lenses is another, which results in the lens becoming less transparent. Some of these cements can also discolour. Canada balsam, for example, tends to turn yellow with age.
