Flexible program (P*).

(Nikon) The ability, when in Program auto-exposure mode, to shift a program setting up or down from whatever the camera thinks is correct.

This shifting involves altering aperture and shutter speed settings while preserving the EV - it is not the same thing as exposure compensation. Indicated by P* in the camera’s top-deck LCD.
