LED.

Light-emitting diode. A small electronic component which emits light (but almost no heat) when electricity is passed through it.

LEDs are red, green, yellow/orange, blue or white. LEDs are typically used in cameras for viewfinder data displays, for blinking red self-timer countdown lights and for red AF assist lights. They are semiconductor components.
