Peripheral.
1. Any device which plugs into a computer and extends its capabilities. A printer, a modem, a keyboard, a monitor - these could all be considered to be peripherals.
2. Away from the centre. Human peripheral vision, for example, comes from light projected onto the interior of the eye (retina) away from the fovea; the fovea being the area of the retina with the highest concentration of colour-sensitive cone cells.
