ok i am planning on getting the 50mm 1.4 lens for the 20d well whatever i buy i plan on getting one my questions is on third party lens one of the options to buy is a Quantaray 55-200mm F/4-5.6 DC AF Lens or Quantaray 18-125 F3.5-5.6 DC AF Lens then there is the option for two bodys with two differnt lens the most expensive one is the body with Canon 17-85mm IS USM Lens that is about 1,900 and the other one is the body with Canon 18-55mm Lens at 1,500 the two quantaray the 18-125 with the body is almost 1,700
and the one with the 55-200 is only slightly less am i better off just buying the body and my 50mm lens with maybe another more versitle one or getting one of these packages ?

Quantaray is a brand name used by an American camera store chain - Ritz, I think. For the most part I don't think it's a total exaggeration to say that Quantaray products are generally built for low cost, not high quality. In other words, I think a lot of people would describe them mostly as "junk." There may be some exceptions to this general rule, but there you go.
Personally I'd get the 18-55 Canon kit lens, since it's not a bad lens for the low price. And a 50mm 1.8, since it's cheap and yet offers remarkably good image quality. Then you can expand your choice of lenses from there as you figure out your needs. |
