I just recently purchased a "Canon EOS 7D" and would like to purchase a flash unit for my camera. Do some work better with this camera then others? Can anyone give me some advice on which brand or model I should get? Thanks. |

The Canon 430EX II and the 580EX II both work really well.
The 430 is a bit cheaper and will do just about anything you could want it to. It has tilt and swivel head and will work as a slave flash in the Canon wireless system.
The 580 is more expensive, but it does everythingt the 430 does, has a few extra features, and has more power. it will also function as a master with Canon's wireless system.
I use both, and they are both very good flashes.
There are some third party flashes with similar features that don't have the price tag, but I am not very familiar with them.
By the way, I just remembered... I think the 7D lets you use the camera's inbuilt flash as a master unit. That m,eans that you can get a 430EX and have it sitting off to the side, giving you an off camera flash. Like I said, I'm not 100% sure, but if the 7D does let you use the built in flash as a master, I'd definitely go with the 430EX. |

It does. The first EOS camera to do so. |
